Fascinating instrumentation and thoughtfully arranged pieces here. Wicked funky clarinet action is followed up by something strangely reminiscent of In a Silent Way. Captivating - increasingly so, with repeated listens.
Favorite track: Amharicity.
On the second release from Blank Slate Records The Dybbuk Quartet explore the legacy of one of the greatest musicians of the twentieth century, and indeed of any century, Bill Evans. Their creation is an Evans tribute triptych, three pieces exploring some of the themes of Evans' work whilst refracting them through the Quartet's rootsy, Jewish aesthetic. The resulting mini-album is full of both passion and understated beauty.

Great soundscapes, semi-cinematic tunes, and tinkly, noodly rhythmically sharp goodness. Aztec Dream is pretty epic, Pal Magnet has the buildup you didn't quite see coming, Bunda Internacionale is endlessly cheerful, and PG Films sounds like the sunny Mario homage I never knew wanted. These guys keep it fresh and original. Audrey Yung
I've been listenining this non stop since I discovered it. incredible musichanship and taste for harmonies. the tracks flow incredibly well but surprise you at every change. Love the rhythm fuckery that's going on, so inspiring. Gata Vrangr
The sublime pairing of trumpet & piano on this gorgeous album—which blurs the line between classical & jazz—is the perfect fall soundtrack. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 23, 2022
